Bedfont Scientific Ltd specialises in the manufacture of exhaled breath and gas monitoring instruments for medical, scientific and industrial markets throughout the world.
PDR were approached to undertake the physical and graphic user interface of a nitrous oxide therapy system entitled NOxBOXi™ . The device delivers and monitors Nitric Oxide (NO) for use in Inhaled Nitric Oxide (INO) Therapy. Encompassing both continuous and synchronous NO delivery modes for use with adult, paediatric and neonatal patients.
Product design activity worked in parallel with user interface design going through conceptual, development and detail design and engineering phases. The mechanical design required a design solution that was appropriate for its target clinical market and use, suitable for low to medium manufacture levels without compromising quality and within aggressive works cost targets.
Early conceptual design schemes quickly explored a number of options, prior to developing through to final design schemes supported through manufacturing implementation.
